Mission Statement

National Action Network (NAN) is a social and activist-oriented organization that was conceived with a focus on action. With the word "National" representing the scope of our activities, and "Network" reflecting the methodology of expansion, the National Action Network is based in New York City, 35 national chapters within the United States. The organization provides extensive voter education awareness and the national platform revolves around activism against racial profiling, police brutality, women's issues, economic reform, public education, international affairs, including abolishing slavery in Africa, job awareness, AIDS awareness, and more. THE BLACK COLLEGE EXPO RETURNS TO WASHINGTON D.C. AREA

The highly anticipated 8th Annual Black College Expo returns to the Washington, D.C. area on Saturday October 20th at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Center located at 8001 Sheriff Road in Landover, Maryland. Thousands of students and parents in and around D.C., Maryland and Virginia will be invited to meet with historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). They’ll be able to submit applications for acceptance into college, as well as, acquire lots of pertinent information on college admission, college preparation, SAT & ACT prep, financial aid, scholarships and hot careers from professionals from around the country. High school seniors who bring their transcripts and test scores may have the opportunity to get accepted on the spot. Some colleges, such as, Langston University, will offer scholarships to qualified students in amounts up to and in excess of $100,000.

Ausar Auset Society invites you to Kamit Fest, their eighth annual
celebration of African culture.  This momentous extravaganza also
marks the grand opening of the new Ausar Auset Society cultural center

Both days will be filled with fresh, afro-centric talent and
entertainment including headline acts Kaoka Dance Company and the
Bambara Drum and Dance Ensemble. You will also enjoy the 'positive

Mike Andrews and “The Caribbean Connection Radio Show” has moved.

Due to the sale of WTPS AM-1080 by Radio One Co., the Caribbean  Connection Radio Show, which has been hosted by Mike Andrews on 1080-AM for the past twenty years is now on a new station.

This move began on Saturday October 20, 2007, the new station is: WSRF 1580-AM.

As of now the program is on at the same time as before, 12 noon to 3 pm, with the same format of  groovy Caribbean music (Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Chutney, Pan-Jazz etc.), news, interviews and fun.

Listeners who may not be able to pick us up on the airwaves can hear us live on the web at  www.wsrf.com.
