Greetings
On-Line Family:
Today,
September 11th, 2009, let's take a moment to
memorialize, pay tribute and nationally mourn the
thousands who died, as well as the thousands who were
severely injured and is still suffering from the
September 11, 2001 attacks on America. One of
the saddest incidents in American History!!!

Today,
makes the 8th Anniversary of the devastating
terrorist attacks in the United States of America at the
World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in
Washington DC, and in Pennsylvania (a rural area near
Shanksville in Somerset County.
So
as
you remember the victims and the survivors of his tragic
day – September 11th, 2001, I ask that you
keep the survivors and the many families and friends of
all the victims in your thoughts and prayers, they will
forever mourn the lost of their loved ones.
We must always keep this tragic incident in our minds and in
our hearts, because this was a day most of us in America
felt powerless, and the incident itself was unfathomable
and left us grief stricken.
God
Bless America! God Bless all the men and women who
lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and Bless their
families and friends as they struggle to move on after
enduring such pain, and suffering.
God Bless the survivors who will forever be suffering
physically and mentally, their healing will
indeed take a lifetime and their memories will be vivid
for years to come!!!
Lovely...Lovely
Trinidad "Island
of the Blue Caribbean sea...May God Bless our Nation!
The
last few weeks we at Arious Entertainment and
MyCaribbean took a trip to Trinidad to celebrate
T&T's 47th Independence, and most importantly to
visit family. This was our first trip back to
Trinidad in quite a few years, and so much was different
(of course).
The
place had changed quite a lot since we were last there,
and one thing that took us back a bit was seeing the
many American food "Chains"
located in Trinidad, such as TGI Fridays, Ruby Tuesday,
Hooter's, Church's Chicken and good old KFC along with
so many more "Chain" restaurants.
Unfortunately,
when you are in our business a vacation always turns
into work; therefore, we tried to experience as much as
possible, so we could share it all with you.
Our
first stop after spending time with family was at the
Hyatt Regency in Port of Spain, which was quite
exquisite. From the moment we turned on to the
Driveway of the hotel off Wrightson Road it seemed we
had been transformed to another place.
The
Hyatt certainly is a 5 Star Hotel, and the elegance was
breathe taking. The lobby was very impressive and
comfortable with modern architecture and the ambience
was delightful. The city
view from the 17th floor was nice; the
view of the Port was beautiful ; and the rooms were spectacular.
One
feature of the room that stood out to us was the
location of the shower, which was nestled between the
bed and bathroom enclosed in glass. This was truly
striking. Finally, the staff was extremely professional
and helpful and constantly kept smiles on their faces.
One
nice thing about the Hyatt was the different packages
they offered to suit your needs. The package we
got included breakfast, which was very nice. It
was a fairly lavish buffet in addition to
"made-to-order" Omelets, Waffles, along with
several local favorite breakfast dishes (bake and salt fish,
etc..)
Our
entire stay at the Hyatt was wonderful, the food was
delicious, and the service overall was
outstanding. The Hyatt is a great place to stay if
elegance and service are your priorities. CLICK
HERE TO SOME OF THE PHOTOS WE CAPTURED!
Our
next stop was to the beach, and for this trip we
ventured out to Salybia Beach, where we had reserved
rooms for my entire family at the beautiful "Playa
Del Este Private Resort and Sanctuary" located
directly on the beach. This turned out to be an amazing
place.
Playa
Del Este Private Resort and Sanctuary is owned by
Michael Headley the founder of the former Top
Masquerade/Carnival Band "Poison."
(The band Poison in past years has had sections in many
of the Masquerade bands in Carnivals around the world.)
For the past 6 years on Trinidad's Carnival Thursday
night Mr. Headley has had a Carnival Fete at his Playa
Del Este resort, and I understand this event is one of
the hottest Carnival fete in Trinidad and it is always
successful.
The
grounds at Playa Del Este are spectacular
and are filled with trees, mostly fruit trees with
an abundance of fruit growing very nicely (lots of
mangos and coconuts), and many other local fruits and
herbs.
The
view of Salybia beach is exceptional, and the shore line
of the Toco beaches from the resort are fantastic.
Umh...what
a beautiful sight of the mountains just beyond the
ocean, and at night the view is even more spectacular,
along with the loud splashing of the waves as it beats
against the shore. The stars were ohhhh..so
beautiful in the not so distant sky, (you felt as if
you could just reach up and pluck one from the sky.)
Our nights were spent either on our ocean front balcony
talking with family and catching up on all we had
missed, or on one of the many decks nestled all along
the property, or just chilling in one of the pools under
the stars.
Playa
Del Este to us was a piece of heaven, serene and oh...so
beautiful . If you
are looking for seclusion, a beautiful ocean view and
lots of relaxation then Playa Del Este Private Resort
and Sanctuary is the place for your next getaway.
You may think from the pictures we captured of the
resort that it is very expensive, but surprisingly the
price was quite reasonable. CLICK
HERE TO SEE SOME OF THE PICTURES WE CAPTURED AT THE
RESORT.
Before
I move on with our trip, I must share with you another
nice experience.
To
our surprise on our last night at the resort there was
an all inclusive event taking place next door at the
"Salybia Resort and Spa". My family,
Todd and I sat around the pool bar that overlooked this
event, and along with some drinks we viewed the live
entertainment at this event. While partying and
talking with the other guests, we realized that the
promoter of this event was among us. We introduced
ourselves and briefly talked a bit about what we both
did. The promoter Mr. Bowen immediately invited us
to his event and supplied us with tickets so we could go
over and check out everything firsthand. This
event "The Salybia Independence All-Inclusive
Fest" presented by Salybia Resort along with Yorkie
Inc. and FB Promotions, had lots of food, an abundance
of drinks (top shelf, wines, champagne, etc.) and
lots of entertainment, which included the DJ, along with
Shurwayne Winchester and his band YOU, Dil-E-Naden, live
steel pan music, and several other bands. Gosh,
this was a fantastic party even with the on and off rain
that was coming down throughout the night. The
performances were great, and Shurwayne and his band was
fantastic. Todd was invited on stage to film the
performances, and I tried my best to capture some decent
photos of the event, which I will upload to my
MyCaribbean page in the next few days. However,
below you will find a video that Todd produced about the
festival.
Wow,
talk about "thief-ing a wine", Todd had
a nice experience at this event. While in the
crowd trying to film the performances a beautiful woman
appeared from no where and really gave Todd a "nice
piece of wine." I am so sorry that I was too
busy laughing and looking at his expression to capture a
picture of this scene. He explained to me later
that he truly experienced the Trinidad term
"thief-ing a wine", which was nice for him...LOL.

T&T Independence Fest 2009 Live in Trinidad

All
in all this entire experience at Playa Del Este
Private Resort and Sanctuary was fantastic and
our stay their with the family was great.
Check it out when you are in Trinidad, or check
out the yearly Carnival fete that is held there
on the Carnival Thursday Night. Ms.
Wedderburn the Manager of the resort would love
to have you as a guest, and make sure you let
her know that you heard and read about her
resort from Arious Entertainment. The
contact information is as follows: http://www.playadelesteresort.com/aboutresort.asp,
the Telephone is (868) 691-5227/2632 and Email:
is info@playadelesteresort.com.
In
between spending time with the family we slipped
away for a night to check out the newly built
Courtyard Marriott in Port of Spain (located
next to the exciting Movie Towne Shopping Centre
and the Hasley Crawford Stadium.
This hotel
seemed to cater more to business people, and it
was small (only a total of 119 rooms)
cozy and very nice. The service was
exceptional and everyone was extremely
friendly. While at this hotel, we ventured
out to Movie Town and had a nice dinner at the
trendy Zanzibar restaurant, where lovely Tara
spent some time chatting with us about
everything (Tara a friend of the family
didn't mention to us she worked at Zanzibar, but
to our surprise there she was). Zanzibar
was a nice getaway and the Movie Town complex
itself is filled with restaurants, a multi-plex
movie theatre, shops and even a casino.
When in
Trinidad take some time to visit Movie Towne
complex, it's a must see location.
Unfortunately,
we did not have an opportunity to visit Trincity
Mall on this trip (the largest mall in
Trinidad), but clearly throughout the years
it has grown quite drastically. From the
outside view it is huge. This mall also
has a multi-plex theatre and lots of
restaurants.
Our trip to
Trinidad was truly divine, and seeing the family
was so precious to me...my mom, dad, my handsome
brothers, and beautiful nieces, along with my
cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. It all was
very nice and a trip I will always
remember. As you can imagine we can't wait
to get back there, actually we intend to book
our tickets for Carnival NOW!
If you
haven't visited Trinidad, please plan a trip
soon, we know you will love it.
 The
funniest thing happened this week, a video was
sent to us, which we found very
interesting. It's about Michael Jackson's
3rd Child "Blanket" and the video
claims to have an idea of who his mother really
is.
Guess
what, it seems Blanket is our nephew according
to this video. Funny, this video claims to
have discovered that Shana (my husband - Todd's)
sister is the mother of Blanket....LOL
Check
out the video that is becoming very popular on
the internet, by clicking the picture below, and
the discussions are quite interesting too. Take
a look at the video and let us know what you
think. (Apparently this was prepared by a fan
of Michael Jackson).
 Happy
50th Birthday Papa Wabe!
We
at Arious extend special birthday greetings to
Radio Host Papa Wabe.
Papa Wabe is the
host of a reggae radio show in Baltimore at WEAA 88.9 FM
every Saturday morning from 10am to 1pm - for
"Reggae Roots and Culture". Listen on
line @ www.weaa.org
Papa Wabe has been
entertaining us for many years, and he
"rocks". We first heard him on WPFW in
Washington DC where he had a great show called
"Shockwave", that was heard every Friday
night. He later moved on to XM Radio when they
first debuted in the Radio Market some years ago, and
now he is the reggae Ambassador of
Baltimore.
Tonight
at Wabe's celebration, it is sure to be a great night of
reggae vibes - remember doors open at 7pm and showtime
is promptly at 8pm. Two of our favorite reggae
artists are headlining this great event - Glen
Washington and Everton Blender. Also on the show
is DC's up and coming next talk of the town "Lady
Flame" along with Tony Roy, Empress Shaneece &
More. So don't meet us at rams head, beat us there
because Rams Head shows usually starts on time and you
don't want to miss a moment of this great line-up.
Click
here for all the details! Come and be prepared for a
night of fun.
Rams Head Live
is located in the Baltimore's Power plant Live
(Entertainment Complex). This is a fun place in
itself because it is filled with restaurants, clubs
and bars. After a certain hour the entire
complex is closed off so you can club hop throughout
the night.

If
you would like to share your thoughts on any of the issues
above,
feel free to send it directly to me at: susan@ariousentertainment.us

I close out for this week, please remember to
