On-Line Family and Friends: Greetings
to all of you!
Woo
hoo it's Friday, yeah---yeah!
The only NOT SO good thing about
this day (Friday) is the date - it's the 13th.
(called Black Friday in my country---hmmmm!)
However apart from that, everything in my world
is bright and rosy, and sparkles ohh so amazingly.
What an incredible week it has been, it started
off with interesting discussions and the sharing of
observations with colleagues; dinner on the town every
night (a somewhat normal thing in our life, since I
seem to hate cooking now that I am older); and a
SUPER AWESOME Reggae show, with excellent performances
by Reggae Super Star "Beres Hammond"
(Singer/Songwriter/Producer), Grammy Award winning
Reggae Band "Inner Circle" and "Culture"
featuring "Kenyatta Hill."
Oh...by
the way, the feedback I received from many of
you regarding my last
week's commentary on Life's Journey was so very
diverse and interesting.
First and foremost, I want to thank you so much
for all of them!
Truly, the comments were varied.
In fact, the most interesting were geared to me
regarding the depiction in my commentary of working
extremely hard on the infusion of ideas, and adventurous
projects my husband "Todd" and I
take on through our incredible life's journey.
Wow, It was perceived that I perform all the work
and many of the comments were for me to "slow
down;" "relax a bit;"
and motivational statements such as: "hang in
there;" and "it will pay off in
the end;" etc. LOL, Oh dear NO, my on-line family and friends,
even though I am extremely flattered about your concerns
and advice, I certainly didn't mean to portray or
convey such a thing, LOL.
I really intended on focusing on the diverseness of our
roles, the belief
we have in each other's ideas/concepts, and most
importantly the TOGETHERNESS.
Actually, the works I perform in the
building process of our business are works I simply
love. Further,
they are works I enjoy immensely, primarily because I
love what I/we do, and I enjoy working with "Todd".
Nothing we do is a chore to me. Of course, as
human beings we all become exhausted at times (LOL,
after all we are not as young as we once were.)
However, the fascinating thing about it all is
the aspect of working TOGETHER AS A TEAM, and I truly
wanted to express the fact that walking along the road
of this life's journey TOGETHER is somewhat
challenging, but to me it is incredibly lovely and
pristine.
Thanks again for all your concerns,
comments and most importantly advice!!!.

Now, back to the awesome Reggae show
that took place this past week (I mentioned above.)
Hmmm, what can I say about "Beres Hammond"
that I have not said before…well, he is truly a talent
to behold! First,
l must say the venue "Rams Head Live"
in Baltimore Maryland's Inner Harbor is a great
concert spot; and the setting I love very much because
it is cool, and has a somewhat intimate feel to it.
Additionally, the sound in this venue is always
great. So,
from the start I was excited to attend this show.
"Bares
Hammond's" "For
The Love Of It Tour" gets better year after
year. All
the artists and bands were fantastic!
"Culture" featuring "Kenyata Hill" was captivating, as they performed a
variety of their hit songs, and really “tore”
things up when they performed their famous "Down in Jamaica (where Garvey comes
from";) "Two Sevens Clash;" and
"International Herb." The crowd really
loved it and showed their appreciation because it was
clear "Culture" and "Kenyatta"
have maintained the dynamic sound the late "Joseph
Hill" brought to the group.
For me at times I would close my eyes and
distinctly hear "Joseph Hill"
singing instead of his son "Kenyatta"
~~ [their voices are truly similar.]
I wondered then how would "Kenyatta"
ever be able to build his own identity and sound (if he
so chooses.) However,
it's clear that it is NOT really necessary because he
is doing quite well with his dads group "Culture"
and most importantly, he is keeping his father's memory
alive.
Up next was the popular Grammy Award
winning band "Inner
Circle" and they were outstanding!!! We were especially pleased that their new lead singer is
"Junior
Jazz" (a brilliant musician we
have been following for years, and a talented
guitarist/singer/songwriter Todd has kept his eye on for
some time now.)
The band ROCKED and performed many of their hits;
actually many of the late great "Jacob
Miller's"
hits ("Jacob Miller" was the
lead singer and an intricate part of "Inner
Circle").
"Junior Jazz" and the
band really paid an excellent tribute to Jacob by
performing "Tired Fi Lick Weed in a Bush;"
"Tenement Yard;" and several
other hit songs. The
crowd was extremely pleased when they performed their
famous "Sweet (A La La La La Long)",
and they brought their set to a close with their famous
~ Number 1 ~ most played reggae song around the world
"Bad Boys" (The Theme song
for the hit TV show "Cops".)
The time arrived for the master
performer "Beres
Hammond" to bless us with his
presence, and the crowd showed it with their thundering
applause. I
truly adore the smooth, sweet, sensual voice of this
lovers' rock style, conscious and mesmerizing Jamaican
singer. Local radio host "Papa Wabe"
[Host of Roots, Reggae, Culture on 88.9 FM WEAA - Saturdays from 10am to
1pm]
introduced special surprise guest "Leon"
(actor/singer/songwriter ~ "Leon Preston
Robinson, IV".) "Leon"
entered the stage singing one of Beres's song, [
which I honestly don't recall NOW; because I was too excited
about Beres's performance;] soon thereafter,
Leon did a fantastic job introducing Beres.
I simply cannot explain the intense
emotions I feel hearing this man sing.
He touches my mind, body and soul…ALWAYS!
Beres along with his band the "Harmony
House Musicians" and back up singers
"The Harmony House Singers"
ignited the stage and performed incredibly.
Beres performed a wide selection of his hit songs
and many of my favorites effortlessly, and with
sophistication: "Step Aside "; "Can't Stop A
Man (from trying); " "Tempted To Touch; " "Falling
In Love All Over Again; " "I feel A
Shiver; " "I
Wish You Would Stay Longer; " "Come Back Home; " "Putting Up A Resistance; " "Pull Up The Vibes; " "Double Trouble; " "They Gonna Talk; " "What One
Dance Can Do; " "No Disturb Sign;" and just about
every one of his hits.
It was truly a glorious performance and one that
had me "week in the knees"---LOL.
It seemed Beres did not want to leave his "family " as he called us, and thanked us for
supporting him throughout the years.
His performance continued for well over an hour
(an hour and a half to be exact), and I feel it was one
of his best performances I have ever seen.
I must commend the band (Harmony House Musicians) for doing a great job
making every song sound like the original
recording. In fact, our
favorite musician in the Harmony House band is the
guitarist; who
is truly a great performer. THIS
SHOW WAS TRULY SUPER AWESOME!!!
I urge you to check out
" Beres Hammond "
when he
comes to your town.
I'm not quite sure what towns he is scheduled
to perform in; but look him up, get the details on his
tour and check him out.
If you know and love his music you are in for a
treat, and if you are not familiar with this fantastic
singer perhaps you will fall in love with his lovely
voice and great performance as many of us have.

On
our quest to living a more healthier life, including
developing and strengthening a more healthy mind,
body and soul, and the ultimate - improving our
appearance; we have made some major changes. Cutting out the unhealthy habits we had developed throughout
life was not as hard as we thought it would be,
especially the elimination of meat (specifically red
meat)~~~[DONE!!!]
Then, eating half a portion instead of a whole
(per Oprah Winfrey's weight loss advice)~~~[DONE!!!]
And now the miles and miles of walking~~~[DOING
IT CURRENTLY.] So,
this weekend the miles and miles of walking continues. Certainly the hard work has been paying off, because
we have accomplished many of the goals we have
set, and we are positively working towards achieving
all. As a matter of fact, all our efforts have
been successful;
because Todd has lost quite a bit of weight, and has a
few more pounds to lose to reach his goal.
HOORAY~~~HOORAY~~~HOORAY
for Todd (I am so proud of him). I too have lost
some, and is approaching my goal; so it's truly an
exciting time in our life, especially living healthier
and being in total control of everything now.
This
weekend we are taking our annual trip to "Six
Flags" in Maryland. This yearly outing is
always fun for us, because this park has a special place
in Todd's heart ~ it was his first job during his
teenage years. He worked at the park for 2 years before it became Six Flags
[It was a locally owned amusement park called "Wild
World".]
Todd fondly recalls the fun filled summers
working in this great environment. He
always tells me: "it is the only job I have enjoyed
[ever] as a teen."
On
Sunday, we are heading to Crownsville, Maryland to the
"1st Annual Caribbean Food and Wine Festival."
This event is guaranteed to be superb; because it
is taking place at an excellent venue - - with a county
like setting, but not far from the city.
This
is sure to be a wonderful outing for the whole family,
so come out and prepare yourself to have fun.
The entertainment line up is awesome, because
there will be lots of local bands, including Todd's
favorite local artist "Tony Roy" and
his band "Yawd Lynk".
The event features wine from Solomon's Island
Winery, plus cheese.
Of course, there will be lots of food and crafts
available. Come out and join us for this "1st Annual
Caribbean Wine and Food Festival" at Anne
Arundel County Fairgrounds, 1450 Generals Hwy,
Crownsville, MD; from 12:00 Noon to 9:00 pm.
PLEASE come out and feel the Caribbean Vibes, and feel
free to bring your tents, chairs, blankets and a fun
positive attitude. NO
COOLERS...PLEASE!!!

Greetings
from the foundation of Harmony, Peace and Love. Today's
Piece is entitled:
"ONE
POWER"
What
is your deepest belief?
Do
you live with doubt being uppermost in your
mind, or do you believe in a universe which is
fundamentally Good?
Can
you look beyond the apparent discord and
confusion which seem to plague our world, to see
the good which often lies hidden in the center
of the storm?
Do
you keep your own counsel, or do you have to
depend on the opinions of your group?
Do
you keep finding fault with others so that you
can hold on to the illusion of always being the
hero in your stories?
Again
I ask you my friend, what is your deepest
belief?
If
you agree that you do believe in something that
is greater than you , however you may call this
something, then do you still blame something
outside of yourself for the ungodly
ways in which we treat our brothers and sisters?
Where
does the responsibility lie for the choices
which we make in our lives?
Let
us choose whom and what we shall serve in this power filled
Now,
this only unfolding moment in which we have the
ability to act.
It
is not always easy to do what is good, but it is
infinitely possible.
We
can choose to still love the ones who revile us
in our absence, saying things which have no
bearing on the truth; we can still love the ones
who hold themselves to be superior by virtue of
the few material possessions, rather than by the
ignorance which fuels their arrogance; we can
still choose to love those who cannot see beyond
the appearance, to the spirit of life which
performs miracles in our presence at every
moment.
We
can choose to remember that whatever we choose,
we are always right, at least to ourselves. As a
man or woman thinks, so is he or she.
Whom
do you choose to serve my friend?
Hollis Lashley,(c) 2010.
