What's Going On? By Todd Mangatal (todd@ariousentertainment.com )
Freddie McGregor's show at the X-Roads was another great event for me. There's nothing like Live Reggae Music! If you haven't heard reggae music "live" you should really take the time to check out a reggae show, it will truly be a musical treat. The show last Thursday was held inside (unfortunately), but the vibes were still nice. I had the opportunity to meet many of you from my On-Line Community, and I'm happy that all of you made it a point to stop me and make yourself known, and informed me that you enjoy receiving the e-mails. We at Arious Entertainment appreciate your wonderful comments and support! The show was well supported, but it could have been better because an artist like Freddie McGregor should easily Sell Out a place the size of the X-roads. If you did not make it, you missed a great show. He performed all of his hits and more. Tell me how is it every song Freddie releases is a hit, and yet he's not a "Sean Paul, and receives NO major radio play? I think major radio should really look at how they program their shows, and don't overlook great artists, and over-play some. What's your thoughts on this? Don't you think Radio Should Play More Reggae Music, especially since the ones they do play always become a major hit? Imagine how nice radio would be with music that has a positive message, instead of the messages we are receiving today. Hit me back on the "Message Board" under DJ's with your response or just e-mail me at todd@ariousentertainment.com.
Saturday Night we celebrated Rory's Birthday (of Stone Love) with Special Guest "Lady Saw". Yes, she lives up to her name "The Real Rude-gal". Again, the vibes were nice. I think Lady Saw has a lot of potential to be the next "big thing". Her stage presence is outstanding, and her rapport with the audience was great. With the right team behind her she could be the next "Sean Paul" or "Shaggy". The young crowd really enjoyed her. As for Stone Love, there was a time when it was special treat to see Stone Love, as a matter of fact at Miami Carnival we saw Stone Love and that was a treat. It seems like they are here every other week, and their is nothing to look forward to. I personally think they play extremely well everywhere else except for DC, and maybe it's because they are here so much. I look forward to Dub Plates, but only heard a few. Where are the days when their were massive dub plates and sound clashes? As "Anthony B" says, "Bring back the dancehall days". To View All Photos regarding DC Carnival
