The Weekend Is Here

Yeah...Yeah...Yeah!

I have no real commitments this weekend, so I am extremely thrilled that it is here! 

Gosh, lately I have had too many commitments and far too many things to do (which have been very stressful).  So much so, that my writing and connecting with you have been scarce.  However, I intend to change this.  

It truly bothers me that many important issues are taking place, and I simply have no time to share my thoughts with you, and get your feedback.  

I certainly do miss the connecting with you; therefore I must make some changes with my schedule and in my life (overall) to ensure that I have time to do the things I love dearly.  

Before I bring my comments to a close, I want to briefly say I commend President Obama on the comments he made regarding Racial Profiling.  It is very controversial to some, but understandable and welcomed by so many others.  Bringing light to this issue was long overdue, because some of us have endured this kind of treatment and worst, for many...many years (for some reason or another.) In my surroundings it happens all the time; actually, we have personally endured the negative treatment on a few occasions.

Indeed, my husband and I know first hand what Harvard Scholar Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. has experienced.  It's a very unpleasant experience, you are shocked, horrified, confused, irritated, angry, and you just can't comprehend or believe what is taking place.  Most importantly, you are and feel extremely powerless (especially when you realize that you can't do anything about what is transpiring.)  Everything is stripped away from you at that moment, because in your heart and in your mind you know who you are and your position in society. But the person administering the horrible treatment doesn't care who you are or your position, instead they have already made a determination about you (profiling you) because of your race. 

Truly, it's unfortunate Professor Gates had to endure this, but the outcome in my opinion is very positive.  His experience drove him to talk about it openly to his friend President Obama and to every media outlet who would let him.  Now, this problem is in the forefront, and folks around the Nation are talking about it and even about their experience.

THANK YOU President Obama for bringing light to this important and horrific problem, which is taking place all across the United States on a regular basis. I am hopeful what you have done will alleviate and eliminate this problem.  Truly Racial Profiling must stop!
