on-line family!
I
hope you enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend as much as we
did. Of course, we spent a lot of time hanging out at home
doing the traditional BBQ "thing", which was fantastic!
However, we eventually made it out the house and spent some time
with friends, and I must say there is nothing better than
spending time talking, laughing, drinking and just having some
good ole fun with wonderful friends. You know, compared to
the 2007 Memorial Weekend, we were real good about refraining
from drinking this year. You certainly couldn't call us a
"lush" this year, we just had a few while socializing!!!
All
in all though, the entire weekend was absolutely superb, including the weather!!!
If

and John, please know that you are great friends. Thanks
for the good food, drinks and great conversation!!!!

I understand Pan Masters Steel Orchestra 10th Steel Band
Jamboree was excellent. Even though we had plans on
attending, we were too "tied up" to get away.
All the reports from friends were great, and we are indeed happy
to hear about their success. Today we received a fascinating
article about this event entitled "Outstanding!!! Pan
Masters' 10th Annual Steelband Jamboree", written by
"When Steel Talks Everyone Listens - Nothing But The
Business of Steelpan Music 24-7". They wrote: "Maryland
is still smoking and fans are still singing and dancing from
this past weekend Pan Masters Jamboree. Seven steel
orchestras represented the Maryland area and neighboring states

On
a sad note, we were informed that there was a great loss of
lives over the weekend in Tampa, Florida. Some wonderful
DJs "Poison Dart" (whom we had a nice friendship
with) were senselessly gunned down at their weekly event in
Tampa. Our hearts dropped when we got the bad news that 2 members of this
Popular DJ
team were killed, as well as a young man who was an associate of
the group.
The two
DJs Antone Geargo-Neely (29) known as "Tony
Montana" and Michael F. Rattigan (35) known as "Chris
Rock" both died immediately. However, the 3rd young
man (Kevin J. Webster - 29) tried to make it as he was taken to
Lakeland Regional Medical center, unfortunately he didn't - he
died later.
Apparently,
these crazy killings took place at their weekly event venue
"The Thunderbird Bar" in Auburndale. The assailant
(assassin in my opinion) who investigations have now identified
is 19 year old Davion Parson of Lakeland, Florida is still at
large, but a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Actually, investigators stated he has fled to Jamaica.
One of the
investigators Sheriff Grady Judd stated "We
believe that this brutal crime was committed in retaliation of
an incident that occurred May 10, 2008."

Stoppers at 800-226-8477.
Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy goes out to
the family, children, friends and fans of the
"Poison Dart" Sound - Mr. Geargo-Neely and Mr.
Rattigan; and to the family and friends of Mr. Webster!
This loss is overwhelming for many, who are relentlessly
asking why...why...why???? Why must we continue
senselessly killing each other!!!
This
Sunday, June 1st Caribbean-American Heritage Month Begins!
Actually, June 5th marks the 2nd Anniversary of this Special
month.
National
Caribbean-American Heritage Month - In
the 109th Congress both the House and Senate unanimously
approved H.Con.Res.71, a measured introduced by Rep. Barbara Lee
(D-Oakland), on June 5, 2006 President George W. Bush issued a
proclamation designating June as Caribbean - American Heritage
Month. This proclamation acknowledges the growing
political and economic influence of the Caribbean Diaspora and
its importance and contribution to the development of the
cultural diversity of the United States.

June, we recognize Caribbean Americans and celebrate the
many ways they contribute to our Nation.
Generations
of Caribbean Americans have helped shape the spirit and

history, and values. Caribbean Americans of all walks of
life have added to the vitality, success, and prosperity
of our country. Their hard work and determination
inspire all who dream of a better life for themselves
and their families.
Our
Nation is deeply grateful to the Caribbean Americans who
defend our liberty as members of our Armed Forces. The
service and sacrifice of these courageous men and women
are helping lay the foundation of peace for generations
to come.
NOW,
THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United
States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in
me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do
hereby proclaim June 2007 as Caribbean-American Heritage
Month. I encourage all Americans to learn more about the
history and culture of Caribbean Americans and their
contributions to our Nation.

I'm sure every city plans on celebrating this month in
some way. However, below are some of the events taking place during this month
locally in celebration of Caribbean American Heritage
Month. Please check your local Caribbean sites to see what
is taking place in your area or do a Google search by listing (Caribbean
American Month Celebrations in New York or Georgia or whatever
city you live in).
(1) June 1st, please attend the Interfaith Worship
Service 60th Anniversary of the
University of the West
Indies. This will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church,
Washington DC @ 3:00 pm. Free
(2) Wednesday June 4th - Montgomery County Executive
Isaiah Leggett will kick off Caribbean American Heritage Month
with a panel discussion entitled "Education and
Job Opportunities for Caribbean Youth" and a community reception. This
event will include Caribbean art, music and food from 4 to 7
pm. It will take place in the Montgomery County Executive office
Building Lobby Level Auditorium, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville,
Maryland. This event is
sponsored by the Howard University Institute of Intellectual
Property and Social Justice and by Zane Networks of Silver

(3) June 26th - 10 Annual Legislative Forum and Reception
will take place on Capital Hill - FREE

The countdown to knowing who the Democratic
Presidential Nominee will be, has begun! It's just a few
days left before the end. This weekend on Saturday May
31st the Democratic National Committee holds its meeting
regarding the problem with seating the Michigan and Florida
Delegates. On Sunday, June 1st Puerto Rico holds its
primary election, and on Tuesday, June 3rd Montana and
South Dakota will hold their primary elections.
As this race comes to an end the craziness
continues. Last weekend Senator Hilary Clinton made some
very sensitive comments that upset many folks across the United

As this exciting race "comes down to the
wire" Senator Barack Obama
is approximately 40 delegates away from reaching the total of 2025 delegates needed
to secure the nomination. Clearly he received 20 super
delegate endorsements over this past week, since last week he
was 60 delegates away. Senator Clinton on the other hand
needs over 200 delegates before reaching the total. She
currently has 1782 delegates (1499 pledged and 283 super) and
Senator Obama has a total of 1981 delegates (1661 pledged and
320 super). Right now according to all the reports on
every network, there seems to be No way Senator Clinton will win
this democratic nomination race. However, we will know
after Tuesday, June 3rd who the nominee will be!!!
Of course, as we have done from the beginning
- we ask you to go out and vote...vote...vote. Vote for
Senator Barack Obama - the candidate that represents honesty,
and CHANGE. We wish the Senator and his camp all the best
with these last few primaries and most importantly on becoming
the Democratic Nominee.
I leave
you with the same statement I have left you with every week since the
democratic primary elections begun. "Please
judge Senator Obama on his words, his actions and the content of
his character.
Kindly continue standing up and not
accepting the same old tactics, rhetoric
and old politics. Most importantly, let's continue building this movement
and voting for Senator Barack Obama". With your support and votes Senator
Obama will succeed and will be the nominee. We are certain he is "the
one"..."the one" who absolutely has the
ability and wisdom to move us forward; "the one"
who has the answers to all of the many issues plaguing America
currently, and we know he is "the one" who can take us
forward toward that change we are seeking in a positive
manner. I hope you are looking forward to
the overall change as I am, so lets continue making history
together!!!!"
Well, over this past week I've been hearing
more rhetoric from the Republicans. Senator McCain has
constantly been making statements about Senator Obama wanting
the US to surrender to Iraq. Let's back up here for a
minute! Why is he saying "Surrender to
Iraq"? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't
President Bush declare the US had won the war against Iraq on
May 1st, 2003, with his "Mission Accomplished"
Speech? Therefore, no such words as "Surrender"
should be coming out of McCain's mouth. According to
President Bush the war against Iraq was won and has been over
since 2003, so no one should be surrendering. You know, I
honestly believe these folks have completely lost their
minds.
 On
May 1, 2003, President Bush landed on the aircraft carrier
USS Abraham Lincoln in a Lockheed S-3 Viking dubbed Navy
One, as the carrier returned from combat operations in
the Persian Golf. He posed for photographs with pilots and members of
the ship's crew while wearing a fight suit. A few hours later, he gave a speech announcing the end
of major combat operations in the Iraq War. Clearly visible in the background was a banner stating

Let's keep in mind the madness McCain have
been saying: (1) some months ago on the campaign trail he stated
the war will go on for approximately another 100 years; (2) Two
weeks ago he talked about bringing the troops home in the year
2013; and (3) last week he repeatedly called Senator Obama naive because
Obama feels it's important to speak with both America's friends
and enemies as several past Presidents have done. This
week he talks about, and is using words as "Surrender"
when the war has been over since 2003 (according to President
Bush). Undoubtedly, this old Republican administration
must go, and we must make sure they are gone in November!!!
