WHAT'S HAPPENING by Todd Mangatal Greetings
To all among our on-line family: Hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. As for Susan and I we didn't do much, we just chilled over the entire holiday weekend. We actually didn't make it to all of the events, only to a few. Big respect to Frontline Entertainment and Radio Boys/ICE Productions on their successful Thanksgiving Eve I95 Jam. It turned out quite nice. After hanging out with friends, and with our heads feeling right we rolled by this event, and began giving thanks early. We chilled at this event till the early hours of Thanksgiving day (we actually didn't make it home until 5:30am). Unfortunately we missed DJ Young Chow, but we heard he was "off the hook" with his DJing skills. ICE, Frontline and the crew are very thankful to all of you who attended their event, especially to the many from the Island Mix family who came out and supported. On Thanksgiving night after spending a wonderful evening with friends, (this time with our heads bad), we made it to the Krosfyah show. To be quite honest, I really didn't enjoy Krosfyah, but I must say I was impressed with Faye Ann, she is really hot and a good performer. While checking out her performance and focusing on her, I recall my friend Mr. Carr telling me to look how sexy Faye Ann was, little did he know I only made it to the show so I could check her out. She has lots of potential and is very marketable, and again real...real hot. We didn't make it by the Elephant Man show, so I can't tell you how that turned out. Some of our friends who made it didn't seem to have enjoyed themselves. They indicated his performance was very short, and he wasn't his normal energetic self. I was hoping I would get a report from the promoter so I can share it with you, but unfortunately I didn't. Well, as for the rest of the Thanksgiving weekend with little to do we just continued chilling at home. As you can see this holiday was very quite for us, and needless to say due to the quietness I have very little to share with you. This weekend, there is really not much going on in our area (DC/MD/VA), and I'm not quite sure why. I thought maybe my e-mail box was full and I didn't receive the announcements from the promoters, but after received DJ Sprang Int'l Weekend Reminder he certainly confirmed how quite this weekend will be (he too didn't have much listed.) Before I close I want to send special Get Well wishes to Mrs. Adams from Caribbean Delight I and II.
We would also like to congratulate a member of our community, Ms. Derrice Dean of Voice of America here in DC. Ms. Dean a national of Barbados is based here in DC and is the winner of the United Nations Population Fund's New Diaspora Award for excellence in reporting on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights issues. Ms. Dean took her honors at the Caribbean Media Awards Ceremony in Kingston Jamaica. We at Arious congratulate Ms. Dean on her accomplishments, she is special to us because of all she has done to expose DC Carnival through her radio program. See below to learn more about Ms. Dean.
