Greetings
On-Line Family:
We
are slowing getting back into the "swing of things"
after recently returning home from having such a superb time
down south. Chilling in Florida was absolutely splendid
Even though we vacation in Miami every year
this one topped all the other years. The beaches that I
simply couldn't get enough off utterly took me away; and hanging
out on the balcony of our exquisite suite
overlooking the ocean was infectious, especially while sipping
some of the most delicious drinks. Miami...the beaches,
the food, the sites, the nightlife; every aspect of this lovely
place was truly excellent!
Orlando
too was great, and the resort we stayed at was
outstanding. Some of our friends are a bit upset with us
because we didn't get around to visiting many of them.
Instead we spent time site-seeing and reminiscing about the
years living there while building our successful dry cleaning
business.
As we drove around the city to many of our
favorite places we noticed some of the most heartbreaking sites
and realized that the failing economy was hitting Orlando very
hard. An outstanding amount of businesses had "gone
under", which was amazing to see since this place prospers
from the influx of tourists. Many of these businesses
catering to these tourists were "closed down" such as
major chain restaurants and hotels.
As we tuned into some of our favorite talk
radio stations and listened to the people calling in and
relaying there problems, we became sick; because we heard the
stories of many residence of Orlando and the surrounding cities
who are suffering tremendously. Many have lost their
homes, their jobs, businesses and even their investments and
retirements. One gentleman in particular called the
station and broke down crying about losing his home and
business, which was very sad. Another gentleman attempted
to jump off a bridge of a busy highway because he was distraught
over his financial problems.
Gosh, I thought our little problems were
something, but I realized we are living in our little world just
outside the Nations Capital and not really feeling the full
effects of this devastating economy. I'm thankful for this
trip though, because it was an "eye opener" to me; we
simply didn't know how bad both the economy and financial crisis
was effecting people, especially in Florida. As
I'm writing I do recall one evening in Florida while relaxing I
heard an ad endorsed by Senator Barack Obama which stated that
Florida was suffering the most from this failing economy, and
that 1400 homes were foreclosed upon in one day in Florida; as
well as 1000s of jobs a day is lost. I pray that the
people in Orlando, Florida and across the country keep their
faith and hold on. I know it will get better... things
will begin to improve shortly, but you must hang in
there.

Devastating
Financial
Crisis
The financial crisis is not only
taking place here in America, but it is happening all across the
world...it has become global. Currently, internationally
the stock market has become just as devastating as the United
States, and honestly - it's really scary. Some say the
world is coming to an end, and to many I know it must seem that
way. However, we must be positive about it stabilizing and
becoming normal again.
As for the U.S., Wall street
continues to be on a roller coaster. All week the stock market
has been up and down, and simply not stabilizing at all.
As you must know President Bush has been addressing the nation
just about every other day stating that we all must be patient
about his "Rescue Plan." One can only wonder
about his "Rescue Plan"! On a happy note, I
noticed gas prices have consistently been falling!!!
Yippy...I hope it continues to drop.

The last Presidential debate took place this past Wednesday
(10/15/08), and as usual it was fascinating and educational for
me. It was clear to me that Senator Obama continues to
fight for the Middle class, and is sincerely concerned about the
troubles many of us are enduring and hurting from in these
serious and devastating times. He clearly has addressed
tons of our problems in a straight and honest manner, and shared
his plans on fixing them when he becomes President of the United
States. "On the other hand", it is obvious
that Senator McCain is fighting for the rich who are actually
like himself. He doesn't even understand anything about
the middle class, or anything about people who doesn't have the
kind of money he is used to having (he truly has never had a
poor day in his life.) Therefore, he has no interest in
finding out anything, or fighting for something he has no
knowledge of (The Middle Class and Poor people.) He is
clueless about what to do to fix this failing economy, and
simply can't relate to my problems, and the problems of most
American families, not to mention his constant talk of fighting
and war!!!
Tell me, what's up with Senator McCain referring
so many times to "Joe the
Plumber" (the instant star he
created)? Actually, today he still is referring to this
"Joe" guy in all his speeches when he talks and
attacks Senator Obama's tax plans. I wished he had checked
his facts about "Joe the plumber" before using him as
a reference. Myself, as well as many around the nation are
finding out a few things about "Joe the
plumber". His name is Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher and he
is NOT a licensed plumber in Ohio or any other state, but he
works for a gentleman who is a licensed plumber.
Additionally, the reports state Mr. Werzelbacher does NOT earn
$250K a year or anywhere close to that, as we all were led to
believe by Senator McCain. I guess Mr. Werzelbacher has a
dream of becoming a plumber and a business owner. Still it
seems pretty weird that Senator McCain is referencing this guy
so much.
As we all know the negative talk and attacks
are becoming "full and front center" in this
Presidential race. So much so that I am sickened by it all
and becoming very irritated. It is so clear racism is
alive in this race, and lately I can't bear to hear the nasty
talk from the "right wing" radio and TV hosts, they
truly sound extremely racists. Actually, I saw so many
reports on the cable networks during this week about all the
racist and hateful things that are taking place across the
country. All of it truly disgusts me, and are extremely
repulsive.
Yup, it's becoming too negative for me to
listen, even though I know I have to so that I am aware of what
is being said and what is in these folks mind. Wow, how
about that issue regarding "Acorn" and voter fraud
that the Republican candidates are blaming Senator Obama for,
that's absolutely crazy.
It all comes down to us remembering that it is
very important that we all stay focused on the issues, and keep
in our minds that the many issues folks are coming up with in an
attempt to attack is absurd, and just another way to discredit
Senator Obama and distract us the people from the important
issues. It is so important that we all go out and vote, so
I do hope all of your my on-line family have registered to vote,
this is the only way we can obtain the change we so long for.
