Greetings
On-Line Family and Happy New Year!
What an exciting way to
start off the New Year, with NEW HOPES and NEW JOYS. In the
political arena, this is precisely the case with Senator Barack Obama. Winning the Iowa primary is a good start for this New Year!
Even though he came within a 2% margin behind Senator Clinton in the
New
Hampshire primary many are still happy and are a lot more hopeful.
Sure, everyone wants to win, but coming in 2nd is still very
good. I guess America is really looking for change.
Funny
thing though, it's clear to see that we are our worst enemy. I
simply cannot believe the talk I am hearing from callers who have
been participating in many of the radio talk shows/programs. All I can say is
"Willie Lynch" did a great job through his writing and
famous speech back in 1712. Clearly what he wrote is still
working quite well, and have not changed after all these years
(296). It's too soon to get in dept with this issue, so as the
year and the primary's proceed we will discuss this in more detail.
Per
the words of Senator Edward, "99% of America has not voted yet,
it's only the beginning"! So, I say to Senator Obama, his
lovely wife and family, and his entire staff/team "keep moving
on" it's a hard, long road and a very difficult fight, but many
are ready for something new and most importantly for Change, and you
might be the one who can deliver this for many across
America.
Bless
Senator Clinton's heart! Indeed I am very pleased to see a
powerful woman running for President, especially since women at
one time (not so long ago) was not allowed to vote. I
however, question Senator's Clinton strength, due to her not
walking away from her husband some years ago when he completely
humiliated her in the eyes of the entire world by his
unfaithfulness (extra marital
affairs.) Many women may disagree with me, but I feel
this show signs of a weak woman - a strong woman would have
walked a way, far...far away, and done it publicly too. I
think a lot of people would have respected her and would have
recognized her strength!!! Personally, if it were me, I
would have said "screw the fact that my husband was the
President", end the marriage (regardless of the years we
have had together) and even way back then begin working on my
political career. Show him and the world that
"I am woman" and and strong one at that!!! Bless
her heart though!!!
Goooooo Obama...on
to South Carolina, many of us are
definitely ready for change!!

The Enough is Enough Campaign is moving along quite well.
The Enough is Enough Organization/campaign's goal is to take a stand
against the commercialization and marketing of negative and
derogatory images of people of color, men and women in the
entertainment industry. On December 10th, 2007, this campaign held a
Town Hall Meeting with distinguished speakers and guest panelists such
as Dick Gregory - Activist and Humorist, Joe
Madison - Talk Show Host and Activist and Dr. E. Faye Williams -
National President of the National Congress of Black Women and
others. The Panelist discussed the cultural impact of negative
images of people of color in the hip-hop industry, and how
should the organization challenge the marketing of images and
messages that degrade people of color, among other issues. Over 350 people attended this
successful and informative event, it was an excellent town hall
meeting.
Well, the protests have continued throughout the holidays in New
York and DC, and this weekend the protest in Washington DC will take
place at "The BET Honors" outside the Warner Theater on
Saturday January 12th instead of the usual location. If
you would like to attend, be at the Warner Theater at 6pm or get on
the bus at 5pm at Mt. Ennon Baptist Church, 9832 Piscataway Road,
Clinton, Maryland.
Even though the "BET
Honors" is an
inaugural event that is paying tribute to the thinkers, trailblazers
and trendsetters whose accomplishments serve as inspirations for
current and future generations", it is a good place for the voices to be heard of the the many who are fed up and have had
enough with the negativity and derogatory images of people of color
in the entertainment industry. For all the details log on to www.enoughisenoughcampaign.com.
